JAMES CITY COUNTY: James City County has hired a local
government attorney who is experienced
in zoning, land use, and code
enforcement issues as the new assistant county attorney. Adam R. Kinsman most recently worked for Sands Anderson Marks & Miller in the local practice
group where he provided legal counsel
for several Virginia counties. He has also assisted several local governments
in drafting revisions to their local
codes and assisted in the
comprehensive revision of a subdivision
ordinance. In addition, he has
worked on matters relating to the Virginia
Freedom of Information Act and
various tax issues affecting local
governments. He had previously

named as the new police chief. He was hired as the county’s first police officer in 1979. County Administrator
Sandy Wanner also hired Tal Luton
as the new fire chief. He had been acting

ORANGE: Orange Town Council
hired acting Town Manager Cole Hendrix as the town
manager. He is the retired Charlottesville City Manager and was with the University
of Virginia Health Care System from
1995 to 2001. Twice he served as acting
Gordonsville Town Manager. His
salary will be $90,000, and succeeds Sabrina
“Sam” Martyn who
resigned in December to become the Gordonsville Town Manager. For more information call

RICHMOND: Press Secretary Bill Farrar announced that Britt C.
Drewes has been hired to be the new
public information manager for the department
of public works, a post Bill Farrar previously
held. The department has over 400 employees and a $54 million budget,
and is primarily responsible for environmental and transportation
services. He has more than seven years experience in the field
of public relations and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to

VEDP: The new Virginia Economic Development Partnership
Director is Jeffrey A. Anderson. He
was in the private sector with a management
consulting firm in McLean, Global Integration at BearingPoint. He succeeded Mark
R. Kilduff, who retired. The VEDP was created by
the General Assembly in 1995 to encourage, stimulate,
and support the development and expansion of the economy in the Commonwealth. For

VMFA: The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) Director Michael
