of the NACo Aging Board for ten years.
He was on the Virginia Association of
Counties (VACo) Southeastern Rural Assistance Program that
represented seven states from Florida to Delaware.
He was appointed to the Virginia Health
Coordinating Council and the Virginia Emergency Medical
Services. He cofounded the Eastern Virginia Health Systems
Agency and served 20 years as treasurer for that organization.
He was also on the Emergency Medical Review Committee of
Virginia. He was on the Virginia Advisory Board on Aging for
Aging, and served as chair of the Virginia Coalition on Aging.

he retired from the board in 1999, he still remained active on
other boards and commissions for the county. Mrs. McAllister
remains very active in the community and Teri Hale described
them as a “power couple.”
Mr. McAllister’s additional
community service and accomplishments included enjoying a
lifetime membership in the Virginia State University (VSU)
Alumni Association and past president of the VSU National
Alumni Association. He was past president of the King William
County Chapter of the VSU Alumni Association and former member
of the VSU Legislative Committee.
He was a member of the National
Association of Counties (NACo) taskforce to eliminate
