Secretary Schewel’s office lacks the formality it had with previous tenants.  While he enjoys his work for the Executive Branch of government, he looks forward to returning to his law practice at the end of his tenure.  He is known for his wit and down to earth personality, and these qualities have held him in good stead during these challenging times
former law firm, and others who knew him greeted him warmly, and jokingly made faces behind the photographer’s back to get him to laugh.  This was not difficult, as he is keenly aware of situational humor, unlike some colleagues in political office.  We came away from the experience thinking that Governor Warner would have been hard pressed to have chosen a better candidate than Secretary of Commerce and Trade Michael J. Schewel for the job. VR
