BACK HOME
She has left and come back to the Virginia Municipal League several times, but still considers it her ideal career choice, she said. “I’ve always loved working with local officials. They are so grateful for what we do because a lot of local officials do not like the General Assembly process, they don’t like sitting in meetings for a very long time. The don’t understand why the General Assembly doesn’t listen to what they want to do all the time or how they feel all the time, so they are happy that we are here to do that.”
She said, once again, she is blessed with wonderful people to work with in and around Capitol Square. She said she especially looks forward to working with local officials including the managers. While her old role
as staff for the Virginia Local Government Management Association is being expertly filled by Denise Thompson, she still feels welcome with that group of individuals. It is like a homecoming in many respects. And for many across the Commonwealth, it is high time she came home because she has certainly been missed. VR
